SONNET FOR MY LADY
When ‘Babydoll’ first came to me
I was younger, middle-aged;
Her pleasant voice spoke me such peace,
Her love my pain assuaged.
Two hurting hearts from different woes,
We each reached forth from pain;
Consolers each and each consoled,
We two began again.
Through happiness o’ercame we both,
That happiness by faith instilled;
Our faith in God is uppermost,
We’re truly happy still;
Romantic love now aging, become now strong as steel,
We’ve found that love born of our faith is of all love most real.
