From My Window

Daily Prompt: Landscape

When you gaze out your window — real or figurative — do you see the forest first, or the trees?

From my window I see squirrels at play
darting to and fro with such frantic energy
The birds are also out on such a sunny day
One bird just warned a squirrel with a high pitched shriek
The cat has joined in my visage
the shriek seemed to wake her from her nap
Her eyes are darting to and fro with what she sees
-“Holy Cow!” She silently pleads, “Please let me out!”
The dog lazily dozes on the sofa so soft
seemingly oblivious to all the life outside
Until the neighbor’s old grey cat dares to cross
that invisible boundary line
Then she joins us at the french doors barking
all the peace and calm is gone
the birds flee, the squirrels climb the tree
and the old grey cat takes delight in her slow tease and taunt.

  1. Ah yes, the invisible line that the neighbor’s cats always cross … Anyway, just stopping in to see what others wrote about for the prompt – Cheers!
